Spiced Tomato Jam

Spiced Tomato Jam

Make batches of it and hand out to friends and family. Great little gift and perfect for BBQ season.

  • 20 Plum Tomatoes
  • 20 Garlic Cloves
  • 472ml Red Wine Vinegar
  • 256g Caster Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Ground Ginger
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tbs Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tsp Mustard Powder
  • 1 tsp Cloves
  • 8 Star Anise
  • 1 tbsp Ground All Spice

How to:

  1. Cut the tomatoes in half, remove the seeds and roughly chop.
  2. Combine all of the ingredients in a pan and cook slowly over a medium heat until the mixture is thick and about 90% of the liquid has been reduced, this should take about 40 minutes. When the mixture starts to look shiny, it's ready.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool slightly then remove the star anise and as many cloves as you can find.
  4. Blend until its completly smooth.
  5. Pop into jars and store in the fridge. Can be kept in the fridge for 3 months if stored correctly. Sealed and sterilized jars.
